The virgin wilderness of Bwindi National Park

Whenever Bwindi is mentioned, all minds drift to the rare mountain gorillas which are found in this park. However, there is an untold adventurous story that you may probably not know. Being one of the most covered parks with thrilling green vegetation that is viewed at long distance, a walk through Bwindi’s rainforests is a lifetime experience. Many tourists on their safari to this place don’t take time to explore more about the natural beauty of the park and they miss out on some of the hard-to forget attractions.

Bwindi just like other national parks in Uganda is a tourist attraction that has been attracting people from different corners of the world who come and have a glance at it. Many activities can be enjoyed while at the park with gorilla tracking acting as the leading activity, then game viewing, bird watching, nature walks, a visit to the Batwa people, cultural tours to the neighboring villages and many more. All these are guided by well trained and experienced guides who are provided to you depending on the tour company used.

While tracking the mountain gorillas in Bwindi, you can add value to your safari by exploring more about nature. The tracking paths are strategically located in that there are different species of trees along the path which can be viewed. In addition, there are other short green vegetation which you can also see as you try to penetrate through the tropical rain forests. Depending on your wish, you can ask your guide to provide you with all the relevant information about these different tree species.

Apart from the vegetation, primates are other attractions which you can view while in the thick forests of Bwindi. As you track the gorillas, there are other primates that you may encounter like the monkeys, squirrels and others. These will come as a surplus to your safari and trust me your holiday in Uganda will never be the same.

You cannot move through the rainforests of Bwindi and fail to encounter a small group of people known as the Batwa. These are sometimes referred to as the Pygmies because of their height. This small cultural group lives in the forests of Bwindi and they live an ancient lifestyle that brings out the true picture of how early men used to survive. On your visit to the park, you can meet this cultured people and get to know some of the wonders that an African man can make and also have a chat with their elders.
