The 3 Days Chimpanzee Trekking and Cultural Tour is a special primate trekking adventure and cultural experience. This tour takes you to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking and cultural experience in Bigodi homesteads. Kibale is a primate park located in Western Uganda and over 13 primate species including 1500 chimpanzees reside within its lush tropical forest. It is an attractive 795sq.km rainforest park with over 4 habituated chimpanzee communities.

A remarkable cultural tour will be enjoyed in the afternoon. You will be visiting Bigodi to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Batooro and Bakiga. The highlights of the cultural tour include observing how locals prepare food, having hands-on experiences in weaving, and learning the unique traditional weaving techniques with the Bigodi women’s group.

Detailed Itinerary: 3 Days Chimpanzee Trekking and Cultural Tour

Day 1: A Safari to Kibale National Park to see primates

At 8:00 am, meet and greet your Uganda safari guide, and get a briefing on this unforgettable 3 Days Kibale chimpanzees and cultural tour. Leave Kampala/Entebbe for Kibale in Western Uganda through Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal tourism city. It will be a scenic drive with a stunning view of forests, and banana and tea plantations.

On arrival at Fort Portal tourism city, lunch will be served in a classic restaurant. From Fort Portal city, drive for 26 km to check in at the lodge inside or outside Kibale for an afternoon relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking & cultural tour in Bigodi

At 7:00 am, you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking rules and this will be at the Kanyanchu tourism center. Actual trekking with Kibale chimpanzees starts at 8:00 am; a park guide will lead you through the forest to explore these apes. It will be a rewarding primate walk through Kibale Forest for 2-4 hours inclusive of one hour for photography and observing how chimps behave.

Other primates are a must-see including red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, l’hoest monkeys, black & white colobus monkeys, etc. Birds, flora, and colorful butterflies will be sighted and once you get back, lunch will be provided plus some refreshments.

The afternoon tour includes a cultural encounter with an experienced guide from KAFRED –Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental Development. Observe and learn how locals prepare traditional food, engage in traditional basket weaving, and explore unique techniques from locals.
