3 days Ngamba and faith-based tourism offer a perfect combination of nature and faith-based tourism. This special short Uganda safari tour takes you to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary to enjoy the chimpanzee trekking experience –full-day interaction with chimpanzees and incorporates the Namugongo Martyrs trail. You will also experience what nightlife in Kampala is all about while at Ndere cultural center.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to rescued and orphaned chimps and lies on Lake Victoria. This sanctuary was created in 1998 and the primary purpose was to take care of and protect the orphaned or rescued chimpanzees. A total of 52 chimps live in the lush tropical Ngamba Island and exploring them can be done on half/full day.

Detailed Itinerary: 3 Days Ngamba & Faith-Based Tourism

Day 1: Go explore Ngamba Island chimpanzees

Meet Maranatha Tours and Travel driver guide for a briefing, pick up and transfer to board your motor boat to Ngamba Island. Depending on the boat’s speed, you may take about 45 minutes and arrive at Ngamba Island. At Ngamba, meet with the site guide for a briefing about your chimpanzee experience, and guidelines.

Early arrivals offer you a chance to spend watch chimpanzees being fed during the morning session. You will also actively participate in the feeding and other activities, then by 4:00 pm, get back to Entebbe on a boat along Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is Africa’s biggest freshwater Lake and you will enjoy its scenic beauty as navigate to and from Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Enjoy a delicious dinner & accommodation in No.5 Hotel or Papyrus Guesthouse.

Day 2: Namugongo Martyr’s trail & cultural experience

Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will meet your driver guide once again for pick up and transfer to Kampala city using the express highway. Today will be dedicated to exploring the Namugongo Martyrs trail and other faith-based sites like the Baha’i temple. Start with a visit to the Namugongo Martyrs shrine where 22 and 23 catholic & Anglican converts to Christianity were burnt during King Mwanga’s reign.

After your tour in Namugongo, transfer to the National Museum (Uganda Museum) for a short tour & lunch in the nearby hotel/restaurant. Leave Kamwokya for the Baha’i temple, Africa’s biggest temple for the Baha’i faith. In the surroundings, there will be some birds to identify and due to its strategic location, you will also enjoy the breathtaking views of the city.

Leave the Baha’i temple and transfer to Ndere Cultural Center located in Ntinda. This is where you will explore and experience Uganda’s unique cultures and traditions. Cultural entertainment from locals will make your evening a memorable one and experience the nightlife.

Day 3: Depart Kampala for Entebbe

Enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee at leisure and after, you will be picked up by a Maranatha tour & travel guide. Drive back to Entebbe, do some shopping –visit the craft shops for some craft products and transfer to the airport for departure.
