On this expeditious safari, you will be offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover some of the unique mountain gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will relish an in-depth understanding of gorilla behavior and day-to-day routines that will take your breath away.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located on the southwestern side of Uganda, about an 8-9 hours drive or one and a half hours flight from Entebbe. This safari destination is home to the highest ever-recorded population of mountain gorillas, totaling about 458 individuals. For this reason, about 20 gorilla families have been habituated and open for tracking by physically fit, age-appropriate, and permit-possessing visitors. For this flying safari, travelers will fly to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with the option of tracking two different habituated gorilla families to compare and contrast their behavior, group composition and so much more.

  • Day 1: Entebbe to southwestern Uganda- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

  • Day 3: Second Bwindi Gorilla trekking tour and village tour.

Detailed Itinerary – 4 Days Bwindi Flying Safari

Day 1: Entebbe to southwestern Uganda- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day, is mainly the travel day as you connect to your ultimate safari destination- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the extreme southwestern side of Uganda. The iconic Protected Area is one of the must-visit safari destinations in Uganda with 20 habituated gorilla groups living in four different trekking sectors/regions.

Early in the morning, after breakfast at your Entebbe Hotel, your private driver will pick you up for the 15-minute transfer to Entebbe International Airport, where you will head to the domestic check-in point for the flight to Kihihi Airstrip. The flight (departs at 7:00 am, 10:15 am, and 12:00 pm) and takes about one and a half hours (although can be more or less depending on the routing or weather) to get there. The flight is filled with aerial views of the winding roads, Rivers, Lakes, Valleys, and forests and on landing, you will meet our private driver waiting to pick up and transfer you to the Lodge.

The transfer from Kihihi Airstrip to your Lodge around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one and a half hours. You will check in at the Lodge and rest for the remainder of the day.

Day 2: First Bwindi Gorilla tracking adventures and a visit to the Ride 4 a woman project

After a wonderful night and breakfast at the Lodge, you will meet your private safari driver at the lounge and transfer by a customized safari land cruiser to the Park Headquarters. Along the way, relish jaw-dropping views of the rolling hills and verdant vegetation. Get registered and briefed at the Park Headquarters on the guidelines to be followed while tracking mountain gorillas. Later venture into the forest accompanied by the armed Ranger and experienced guide who will be offering explanations about the Park, animals, birds, butterflies, and tree species along the way. When the mountain gorillas are encountered, get the chance to spend one hour learning about their interesting behavior and taking photos. Later return back to the Lodge for a hot meal.

After your lunch and afternoon siesta, continue to visit the “Ride 4 a woman” project with a chance to get entertained by thrilling traditional dances, purchase souvenirs and settle for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 3: Second Bwindi Gorilla trekking tour and village tour

After breakfast, your second Bwindi Gorilla trekking adventure begins. On this day, you will be visiting a different gorilla family, different behavior, and group composition. Spend an hour observing, comparing this day’s gorilla family with the one visited the previous day.

In the afternoon, your adventure will lead you to the nearby village to learn about the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the people. Later, settle for dinner and overnight at the Lodge while reminiscing on the exciting activities of the day.

Day 4: Kihihi (Bwindi Impenetrable National Park) to Entebbe International Airport, departure

On this beautiful day, you will say goodbye to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it starts with breakfast at the Lodge. Be transferred from the Safari Lodge to Kihihi Airstrip. Immediately hop on the bush flight to Entebbe International Airport and from that point, take your connecting flight back home. Kwaheri!!!!!
