MOUNTAIN GORILLA BABY BOOM IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda’s premier gorilla trekking destination celebrates birth of 2 baby mountain gorillas. According to Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), the new born baby gorillas are from different gorilla tracking regions and gorilla families. They were born in the same week, one in Mubare group in Buhoma sector in the Northern side and the other in Oruzongo family in Ruhija region, Eastern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The two gorilla babies were born in July thanks to Mother Nyampazi gorilla in Mubare family led by Maraya silverback. The recent birth now account for 9 members in Mubare group alone. It should be noted that Mubare is the first group to open for gorilla trekking in Buhoma region.

In Oruzogo gorilla family, Katoto mother gorilla was spotted nursing her baby on 25th July 2020 in the jungles of Bwindi. Today, this group has 15 members and it can be explored on gorilla trekking safari in Ruhija region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Remarkably, this marks Katoto’s first birth in Oruzogo group led by Kagaanga silverback.
