2 days Uganda gorilla trekking Buhoma is a short gorilla tour designed uniquely to allow you to visit, interact and explore more about mountain gorillas at an affordable rate. This 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking takes you through gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector, the Northern region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. 

Gorilla trekking safari to Buhoma starts and ends in Kigali. This includes a border crossing from Katuna or Chanika and Buhoma sector will be the main area for you to enjoy an encounter with endangered mountain gorillas. Buhoma is the Northern gorilla trekking sector of Bwindi National Park in Southwestern Uganda. It is among the 4 regions of Bwindi, home to 459 mountain gorillas and 20 habituated gorilla families.

Day 1: Kigali-Bwindi National Park Buhoma safari

After breakfast, leave the hotel/lodge for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector. Pick up will be early so that you embark on the Kigali city tour to visit the Gisozi genocide center, markets, and other historical sites like museums. After a short tour in Kigali, settle for lunch or have it en-route (while in the car) and drive via Katuna or Chanika border to Buhoma sector- the Northern region of Bwindi.

Enjoy breakfast early and at 7:00 am, report at Buhoma sector for a briefing with packed lunch and bottled water. At 8:00 am after being allocated to a gorilla group (Buhoma has 4 families- Mubare, Rushegura, Habinyanja, and Katwe), the park guide takes you through a long day trek to see mountain gorillas. This is most likely to take 2-6 hours inclusive of 1 hour for a face-to-face encounter. 

Retreat from the Buhoma gorilla trekking experience, get your certificate, and meet your driver guide. Drive back through Katuna or Chanika to Kigali and today marks the end of 2 days of Uganda gorilla trekking Buhoma safari.

When to travel for gorilla trekking in Buhoma- Bwindi National Park

Gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi National Park is best done during the dry season (from June to September; December to February). This is when there is the least amount of rainfall or even no rains and the ground is kept relatively drier making it easier trekking through steep slopes.
