UTB Launches The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2020

Uganda Tourism Board has officially launched and unveiled the schedule for Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2020. This annual expo brings together travel journalists, tour operators/companies, travel agents, accommodation facilities’ owners and tourism boards’ representatives from Uganda and beyond (especially other East African Countries) in a bid to showcase the tourism potential of Uganda as well as increase the number of tourists into the different destinations of the country.

The National, Regional and International Exhibitors will not only market their packages at the Pearl of African Tourism Expo but also network, which also helps in facilitating their tourism businesses. The 3-day event is based on the theme: “Inspiring high-value engagement to promote intra-Africa Travel for leisure, business, and adventure” and is scheduled for 4th February 2020 till 6th February 2020 at the exquisite Speke Resort Munyonyo. The program of the expo will run as: the first 2 days involve workshops and seminars, conferences, and Business to Business meetings while the last day will be for the public in promoting Business to Customer engagements (between exhibitors and hosted buyers).

The 2020 Pearl of African Tourism Expo will help in integrating Business to Business (B2B) as well as the Business to Consumer (B2C) trade approach thus tourism business owners will learn from each other in addition to making partnerships while the business owners will also meet potential tourists, who if interested will book tours based on which package works for them.

The Uganda Tourism Board CEO-Lilly Ajarova pointed that the Expo is one of the main ways of marketing the country’s unique tourism potential to the East African region, African Continent and the Globe and this was seconded by the Board Chairman Uganda Tourism Board who emphasized that the event is an important avenue of promoting and marketing Uganda to selected hosted tourists in a wide goal to grow tourist arrivals.

As part of the activities, a FAM trip lasting a week will be organized to allow hosted buyers such as hoteliers, tour agents and travel journalists from Uganda’s main source markets such as United Kingdom, African, Switzerland, North America, Canada, and Germany to experience this beautiful country’s extraordinary gem in addition to ensuring memorable experiences in Uganda. Uganda is the Pearl of Africa and has a lot to offer and it’s from exhibitions such as POATE that potential travelers will get to know what the country offers.
