The 2023 Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo will include exhibitions where several MICE offerings will be displayed by the bureau at customized stalls. Uganda is a preferred MICE destination, with many international meetings ranging from small, midranges to large capacities have been successfully held here. The most important of all was the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which was attended by Her Highness the late Queen Elizabeth 11, 26 Heads of State and over 3500 delegates.

There are many opportunities in Uganda’s business events sector. Recognizing these opportunities, in 2018, Uganda Convention Bureau was launched and the main goal was to professionalize the sector in Uganda. The bureau is part of UTB, an organ that is in charge promoting and regulating business, and leisure travel sector in Uganda.

The MICE tourism in Uganda will be implemented via Uganda Conventions Bureau (UCB). The expected MICE activities to be held include B2B, exhibitions, familiarization trips, seminars and more. The B2B meetings will be conducted by hosted buyers from the global MICE sector who will have meetings as a way to generate potential business leads. FAM trips –these will be tailored to key tourist attractions that inform buyers’ decisions for business events and incentive travel.
