Mgahinga Gorilla National Park entrance fees 2022-2024 -these entrance fares are levied to visitors on Uganda safaris to Mgahinga National Park. Mgahinga is one of the 10 Uganda National Parks and it has several exciting activities or experiences to offer visitors.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park safaris offer visitors the best of guided mountain gorilla trekking, hiking/nature walks, birding, golden monkey tracking, volcano hiking and Batwa pygmy cultural tours. This park is found in Southwestern Uganda, Kisoro district and it is perched right within the Virunga Conservation Region.

Mgahinga was created as a National Park in 1991, the same year Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was founded. Unlike Bwindi, Mgahinga occupies the smallest land area of 33.7sq.km and supports a variety of wildlife including 76 species of mammals such as golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, forest buffaloes, giant forest hogs, elephants, black fronted duikers, bushbucks, porcupines; bird species like the Rwenzori turacos, black kite, grey-capped warblers, etc.

Like other Uganda safaris parks, entrance fees/tickets to Mgahinga National Park are valid for 24 hours from the time guests enters. Extra time a guest spends in the park after expiry of 24 hours is counted as extra day and fees are applied on safari activities you engage including gorilla trekking, volcano hiking, golden monkey tracking or birding.

Adult foreign nonresidents visiting Mgahinga for a safari are charged USD40, foreign residents pay USD30 and shs. 20,000 for the East African citizens.

Children on a tour to Mgahinga -foreign nonresidents pay USD20, USD10 per child for foreign residents and shs. 5000 for East Africa citizens.

Gorilla tracking permits prices in Mgahinga vary depending on visitor category. The foreign nonresidents can secure permits at USD 700, USD600 for foreign residents and shs. 250,000 for East African citizens.

Golden monkey permit prices cost foreign nonresidents USD60, foreign residents USD50 and shs. 40,000 for East Africa citizens. Golden monkey habituation permit rates cost foreign nonresidents USD100, foreign residents 80 USD and shs. 100,000. The golden monkey permit prices exclude entrance fees and due to high demand, you are advised to reserve your permit early before actual visit to Mgahinga to engage in golden monkey tracking.

Volcano climbing rates cost for foreign nonresidents USD80, foreign residents USD70 and shs. 50,000 for East African citizen. Mgahinga platform walk costs USD10 for foreign nonresidents and foreign residents and shs. 10,000 for East African citizens. These are per day fees, includes entrance fees with an exception for guests who are interested in the Mgahinga National Park platform walk.

The Batwa trail experience rates range from USD80 for foreign nonresidents, USD70 for foreign residents and shs. 50,000 for East Africa citizen. These includes park entrance fees and booking in advance is recommended.

Vehicle entrance fees valid for 24 hours except for concessionaire tourist vehicles that are charged per trip. Saloon cars pay USD40 foreign residents, while East African citizens pay Shs.20,000. Minibusses/Omni buses for foreign residents USD50 per day and shs. 30,000 for East African citizens. Overlanders USD150 for foreign residents per day entry and shs. 100,000 for East African citizens. Buses & lorries pay USD200 per day and shs. 200,000 for East African citizens.
