How to get to the Republic of Rwanda

The country has got an international Airport called Kigali International Airport (KGL) which is located just about 10 kilometers away from Kigali city. The airlines which operate in Rwanda are SN Brussels KLM, Rwanda air Express, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Tanzania and South Africa Airways.

There are also other means of transport to Rwanda most especially from the neighboring country. This is by road using companies or private vehicles and involves crossing borders of Cyanika and Katuna from the Republic of Uganda.

Golden monkey tracking;

The golden monkeys are quite the most elusive and beautiful monkeys in the world. These ones are also tracked in the Volcanoes National Park. Golden monkeys exist only in the Virunga Region which Volcanoes Game Park falls too. The rest include Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Virunga National Park.

Mountain climbing;

Within the park, there is an opportunity to climb mountains especially those who are physically fit. The mountains such as Kalisimbi, Sabyinyo, Muhabura, Gahinga and Bisoke provide this activity. It takes one to two days to climb one of these Virunga Mountains. It is perhaps regarded as one of the most exciting and memorable experience on this planet to find yourself at the top of the mountains.

Visiting the Dian Fossy Tombs:

Dian Fossy was a prominent researcher who carried out her research on the life and behaviors of the mountain gorillas for a period of about 18 years. It was against the massive killing of the mountain gorillas by the poachers that her work was made to an end. Unfortunately, she was murdered by the poachers who were against her work.

The local community visiting:

These usually take place during your trip to volcanoes National park. It is so interesting to learn more about the people’s culture, enjoying their tradition   dance how they make fire, how women make weaves and hunting skills.

The cultural walk:

At Nyungwe National park, the cultural tours can be arranged to visitors to meet the local people who live within and around the park. These people can entertain visitors through doing their cultural dance and songs. They do explain to them how they have managed to live in the area and introduce their farming methods.

The canopy walk;

The canopy walk is regarded as one of the main activities and attractions in the park and is situated at the visitor’s center of the Uwinka view point. The canopy has three walking sections  with the first one having 45 meters, the second one having 90 meters, the third one having 25 meters while on canopy walk  you can view various species of primates.
