3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation and Nature walk in Bigodi Wetland allows you enjoy up close with chimpanzees in the wild and other primate species. Unlike normal chimpanzee trekking tours, this package takes you through a memorable guided chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale National Park.

Kibale National Park contains 13 primate species inclusive of 1500 chimpanzees. Other interesting primates of interest on a tour in Kibale include galagos, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, mantled guereza, olive baboons, red colobus monkeys, and others.

Bigodi Swamp is situated adjacent to Kibale Forest National Park and supports 138 species of birds and many primates such as red colobus monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys.

Detailed Itinerary: 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation

Day 1: Travel to Kibale National Park to enjoy chimp habituation, visit Bigodi

Start your journey from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale National Park, taking about 6 hours’ drive in a 4×4 tourist vehicle. Pass through the beautiful Fort Portal tourism city and connect to your safari lodge for relaxation and lunch break. Leave your chimpanzee safari lodge for Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to enjoy a guided nature walk with an experienced local guide.

On a guided Bigodi wetland nature walk, you will come across many primates and other mammals including red colobus monkeys, colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, as well as mammals like sitatungas, bush pigs, bush bucks and more. Return to the lodge for relaxation and enjoy dinner, night stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience (Kibale Forest National Park)

You will be expected at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing about chimpanzee habituation experience guidelines. At 6:00 am, the experienced park guide will accompany you on a search for chimpanzee community. There will be higher chance of encountering other primates including l’hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, baboons, and many butterfly species. Today’s chimpanzee interaction includes lunch meal in the jungles and you return late in the evening for relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
