Detailed Itinerary – 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Tour in Virunga

Day 1:  Arrive-Kigali-Virunga National Park

Arrive at Kigali International Airport of Rwanda in the morning to be received cordially by our Company representative (your private driver). In the company of the safari representative, head on the 4-5 hours’ drive to Virunga National Park. Post arrival, lose yourself in the City ambiance while enjoying the tour to its top historical and cultural sites.

Savor on a mouth-watering meal and begin the journey towards Virunga National Park. Border crossing between Rwanda and to acquire the gorilla trekking permit and process the Congo Tourist Visa (if you hadn’t). Reach your Safari Camp for the dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: The phenomenal Virunga Gorilla Trekking Tour

Post breakfast, gather at Bukima Ranger Post for registration and briefing, starting at 7:00am and by 8:00am head into the dense forest to search and marvel at the giant Apes. Trekking time is unpredictable but be prepared for anything between one and four hours of moving while meeting other animals and birds along the way. Marvel at the massive size of the silverback who protectively watches over his troop, the infants playing, mothers nursing their babies or the juveniles grooming each other.

After this life-changing encounter with the Giant Apes of East-Central Africa, get transferred to the Tented Camp for a delicious and carefully-prepared meal. Spend the evening at Rumangabo Park Headquarters in a guided walk that will introduce you to the incredible diversity in form of birds that include grey-crowned cranes, Ibises and egrets. There is an option of visiting the Park’s bamboo projects and retiring for overnight and dinner at the Tented Camp.

Day 3: Departure: Virunga National Park to Kigali City

This day brings your Virunga Gorilla Trekking Tour to a sad end. Therefore after breakfast, meet the driver for a ride back to Kigali City, through Gisenyi-Goma Border crossing. On getting to the City, you can decide to take a flight back home or rest at the Hotel while contemplating on extending your Rwanda safari affair.
