4 Days Mgahinga And Bwindi Gorilla Trekking

Mgahinga and Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari: Experience unmatched gorilla trekking adventure in both Bwindi and Mgahinga safari parks in Uganda. With just 4 days, you can be in position to enjoy up close and personal with the rare mountain gorillas in both Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

The 4 Days Bwindi, Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking is a short gorilla tour and involves trekking gorilla families in Rushaga sector in the Southern edge of Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga National Park’s Nyakagezi gorilla group.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel by car to Rushaga in Bwindi

Embark on a 8-9 hours’ drive journey in a 4×4 tourist vehicle with an experienced driver guide in Uganda. The long day road trip won’t leave you anywhere bored but allows you to make breaks en-route, especially at the Equator in Kayabwe and lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre. After lunch, you will be heading to Rushaga to check in at your accommodation for overnight stay.

Day 2: Rushaga for Gorilla Trekking

Enjoy a hefty breakfast early in the morning and after, you will set off for briefing at Rushaga trailhead/region.

Get to know the various gorilla trekking regulations and also the park official will allocate a family of mountain gorillas to you. About 9 gorilla families exist in Rushaga alone and include Mucunguzi family, Mishaya, Kutu, Busingye, Kahungye, Nshongi gorilla group, Rwigi, and more.

At 8:00 am, set foot into the jungles in search for mountain gorillas and once you have located them, you will enjoy one hour face-to-face with these rare species. You will then get back to your accommodation for relaxation, lunch and some refreshment. Today, your night stay will be had preferably near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park –Mount Gahinga Lodge/Traveler’s Rest Hotel.

Day 3: 2nd Gorilla trekking

Have breakfast in the morning and after, you will embark on early gorilla trekking adventure. Expect to spend at least 2-6 hours in the forest searching for Nyakagezi family with an experienced guide. One hour will also be set for you to take photos and observe how these apes behave. Return to the lodge for relaxation and in the afternoon, you may have an addition of Batwa cultural experience.

Day 4: Departure

At leisure, have your hot cup of tea/coffee and after, proceed with your return trip back to Entebbe by road or by flight at Kisoro airstrip.
