The development of Buganda kingdom will attract more tourists

Basing on the no-going developments in Uganda’s largest ethnic kingdom, Buganda, the country is expected to receive more visitors compared to the past. Many tourists on their safari to this East African country will be enticed to explore more about this rich cultural kingdom characterized by friendly people. Located in the central region of the country, Buganda is said to be the heart of the country simply because it harbors most of the government offices and the capital city, Kampala. Given the fact that most of the Uganda safaris start from Kampala, every tourist has to pass through this kingdom probably even spend nights in its beautiful cities. I know you must have heard about this adventurous kingdom that’s if you have taken time to read about African cultures but one special thing you should note about it is that it has a culture of its own. Many people from different destination travel to this “pearl of Africa” specifically to explore more about the kingdom.

Today, the kingdom through its Katikiro (Prime minister) has embarked on a development programme aimed at bringing back the lost glory. Different cultural sites are to be innovated and more are to be set up for visitors have a look at. Whenever you hear the word “Etofaali” on your safari to Uganda, don’t struggle looking for the meaning. It simply means contribution to the reconstruction of Kasubi Tombs which were burnt down in 2011.The Katikiro of Buganda has been moving around the whole country soliciting funds to reconstruct the Tombs where the dead kings of Buganda are buried. The slogan “Etofaali” is now a common word in the country and it is now used to mean contribution of money to accomplish a certain project. It is believed that once the Kasubi Tombs are finished, they will attract people from different parts of the world who will come to view some of the unique cultural objects that portray the origin of the local people.

Apart from the Kasubi Tombs, different cultural sites in the kingdom are to be renovated including the palace and this will transform Buganda into the best cultural setting in the country. With almost 75% of the country’s prominent historical sites, Buganda acts as the leading cultural destination in the country and this is the reason I hosts more visitors compared to other kingdoms. Its well disciplined people who are ready to share their cultural beliefs with tourists are wonderful and give good company to the visitors.
