At Lake Mburo National Park, search for variety of savanna and aquatic species ranging from cape buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs and countless antelope families.

Visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for up close with family of endangered mountain gorillas in the wild. This park is set in the far Southwestern Uganda and getting there takes 8-9 hours. At Bwindi, expect to experience the best of gorilla trekking adventure. This 331sq.km protected area is comprised of 4 regions –Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma.

Detailed Itinerary: 4 Days Lake Mburo And Bwindi

Day 1: Travel to Lake Mburo by safari vehicle, boat cruise

This day will be for you to set off from Entebbe city to Lake Mburo National Park, 240km journey. At the comfort of your 4×4 safari car, enjoy the scenic view of western Uganda landscape. Navigate along Masaka-Mbarara city with a stopover to be made at the Equator and you continue to the park for lunch.

After a short relaxation and refreshments, join others on a guided boat cruise on Lake Mburo. Plenty of aquatic species will be spotted including hippos, birds and crocodiles, etc. As you return to your respective lodges, keep eyes on some of the species as they rush back to their resting places for the night.

Day 2: Game drive & head to Bwindi

Early in the morning, you will be served breakfast and after, start your day with 6:00am game drive. Drive through the savannas of Lake Mburo National Park while searching for wildlife species such as hyenas, Defassa waterbucks, giraffes, impalas, zebras, cape buffaloes, elands, tops, leopards and reedbucks, etc.

After the game drive, you will be transferred to Bwindi National Park in Southwestern Uganda, about 6 hours’ drive. En-route, enjoy the view of Kigezi’s spectacular rolling hills and arrive early to check in at your respective lodges.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking & visit the Batwa

Begin your day with a hefty breakfast and after, you will be transferred to Ruhija trailhead for briefing about gorilla trekking regulations. At Ruhija, the Eastern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will be assigned to any of the 4 gorilla groups –Oruzogo, Bitukura, Kyaguriro and Mukiza. It will be a 2-6 hour adventure as you search for your assigned gorilla family with a guide and once you locate it, you will be enjoying 1 hour of taking photos and observing how the endangered mountain gorillas behave.

Start returning to the lodge for relaxation and have some refreshments. In the afternoon, you may meet the local guide for a cultural visit to the Batwa community. Get to interact with the Batwa pygmies, learn their unique traditions, cultures and also be entertained by traditional dances and music performances.

Day 4: Depart

It is your day to say goodbye to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and your journey starts early after breakfast. You will be spending 8-9 hours on the road and en-route, don’t miss another phase of photography at the Equator crossing, then connect to Entebbe or Kampala.
