The uniqueness of Gorilla tracking in Uganda

Commonly known for harboring man’s closest, the rare mountain gorillas, Uganda is one of the leading tourism destinations in Africa. Its splendid sceneries which provide breathtaking moments to the visitors is one the key things that has continuously attracted people from different parts of the world. With only 900 gorillas left in the world, Uganda has the largest number of these great apes and it stands out to be the favorite destination for most trackers. Though some tourists prefer other countries where gorillas are found like Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo, there is a lot they miss in terms of adventure which can only be experienced in Uganda.

Some visitors wrongly believe that tracking these elegant primates in any of these African countries provides an equal experience and it doesn’t matter where you track from. This is totally wrong because these 3 countries present different tourism experiences due to their differences in nature. Given the fact that Uganda is “the pearl of Africa”, its wonderful nature views one enjoys while traveling to the 2 parks where gorillas are found is extremely breathtaking. Both Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga national parks act as homes for the gorillas in this East African country and Bwindi has half of the total population of these rare primates.

Before even reaching the parks, the great views of various highlands covered with beautiful, green vegetation entertain the visitor’s eyes as he/she travels. More of this is enjoyed when at the park especially if you have visited Bwindi. Gorilla tracking is a physical activity that requires one to be fit to avoid complications. Depending on the family you want to visit, it may take even the whole day as you penetrate through thick rainforests in search for the gorillas. Trust me, moving through thick forests of Bwindi past different tourism wonders is a lifetime experience which you will live to tell. There is more to this tracking trip that you didn’t know especially if you are in Bwindi. As you track, you may encounter different wild animals but you do not need to get scared because you will be highly protected by experienced guides.

The whole adventure comes to a success when you find a gorilla family in the forests. For a first-time tracker, finding a group of more than 7 mountain gorillas in one place playing and feeding is just enough for relaxation. It is a dream come true experience as you spend about an hour with the gorillas witnessing how they associate with each other and also taking photos with them. So long as you don’t scare them away, they can stay with you peacefully and some can get a chance of touching them. It is a unique experience that you will hardly get in other countries like Rwanda where tourists are given less minutes to spend with a gorilla family.

However, one is required to obtain a gorilla permit before he/she can be allowed to track the gorillas of Uganda. It is therefore recommended that intending tourists should book these permits in time, at least 5 weeks prior to their safari to avoid inconveniencies. We can help you obtain these permits in time by booking for you in time in case you want to do a safari in Uganda. All you need to do is to inquire with us on this website and we shall immediately reply drawing for you an itinerary stating your movements while in the country.
