Hiking mountain Rwenzori is more than just fun

As you hear the word hiking, it is not something easily experienced anywhere without the presence of a raised platform. However, not all raised platforms give a good climate for the activity because for anyone to enjoy a hiking safari there must be other attractive features to give a magnificent feeling to the hiker.

With few mountains in Uganda, Rwenzori commonly known for its ice-like atmosphere is the best hiking destination in the country. I know you must have visited other hiking sites in the world probably in Uganda but I don’t think you have experienced the splendour like that one enjoys while climbing the Rwenzori Mountain. The beauty of the surrounding is just enough to keep you wondering how God put a lot of thinking while designing the place and trust me, you will never regret having visited the place.

Hiking on Rwenzori Mountain

Have you ever asked yourself what could be the meaning of the word “hiking”? Fine, you may mistake this word for other tourism activities especially those that involve walking long distances but it simply means ascending and descending up and down a raised platform on foot. Once some visitors are told to climb a mountain, they think it is an easy task but this adventurous activity requires one to be physically feet since it involves extra use of energy. Rwenzori being the highest mountain in Uganda, climbing to its highest peak is extremely challenging and if one reaches the top, he/she must be congratulated.

Located in the southwest of Uganda, Mountain Rwenzori is the best destination for hiking and this is the reason why many mountain climbers on a Uganda safari choose this place. The reason why they opt for it is the wonderful-breathtaking nature which surrounds the mountain easily seen at a closer range. The ever-green rainforest near the mountain full of rare tree species give visitors a good moment as they prepare to start their hiking journey. At the base of the mountain, there are some primates which a visitor may encounter like rare monkey species.

Hiking normally starts at around 8:30am in the morning underneath the brilliant glow of the sun moving past local farmers and seeing various plots of bananas, cabbages and cassava. The most interesting point as you hike is 2600km above sea level where you get to see the entire valley and peaks of distant mountains.

As the saying goes “the higher you go, the cooler it becomes” it’s the same case with hiking mountain Rwenzori. Some points are even too cold that if not healthy, a tourist cannot handle. This is the reason why before going hiking on mountain Rwenzori, one must make sure that he/she wears the right clothes, shoes and also carry the relevant gadgets.

At the top of the mountain (at the highest peak), you will have a lifetime experience as you have a wider view of Uganda. It is possible to view the top of the neighboring hills since this is the highest point in the country. The coldness at the peak is unbearable and one must be extremely protected against the freezing conditions. Get a chance of taking clear photos at the highest peak for remembrance.

Note that it is practically impossible to climb this mountain without having a break for resting. As you hike, you will be told by the guide to stop at certain points for relaxation. Descending from the top of the mountain is more interesting because it requires less energy compared to ascending.
