This Amazing 4 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari will be a trip to remember as it starts from Kigali and ends in the same City but takes you through one of Africa’s most treasured destinations to encounter one of the World’s most majestic creatures. With your gorilla permit (at $1500), you will be able to track one of the habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park (situated in North-western side of Rwanda). This safari also involves a City tour where local markets, craft shops, and genocide memorial centers will be visited as well as golden monkey tracking.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be picked by our driver/guide from Kigali International Airport and briefly have a tour of the City. Have lunch and drive north-westwards to Volcanoes National Park, the home to 10 habituated gorilla families and arrive in the Park after 3 hours’ of driving. Dinner and overnight will be at Sabinyo Silverback Lodge/Bisate Lodge for luxury, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for midrange or Kinigi Guesthouse/Hotel Muhabura for budget.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes national park
You will have a hefty breakfast due to the hectic and physically demanding activity you are about to participate in. Later converge at the Park Headquarters for a pre-tracking briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking, then get into the jungles to search for the allocated gorilla family. Once sighted, you will be expected to spend only one hour with the gorilla family while observing them and taking photos of these creatures grooming, feeding and playing. Not only will you get the chance to meet face to face with the giant apes but also relish the breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes as well as encounter other wildlife species such as buffaloes, elephants, monkeys, and bushbucks in addition to bird species. Head back for lunch and in the evening have a simple community walk to learn about the ways of life of typical Rwandan villages and visit one of the local schools. Day 3: Hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb or Golden monkey tracking
The day starts with a delicious and healthy breakfast before continuing to the Park to visit the Dian Fossey Tomb where you will have an insight on the life of an American primatologist who spent over 18 years protecting the mountain gorillas before being murdered. Alternatively, you will track the golden monkeys, the cunning and fast monkeys that call this Park home. Unlike the mountain gorillas, the golden monkeys are very playful primates that you will find jumping from one tree branch to another. Overnight and dinner will be at Sabinyo Silverback Lodge/Bisate Lodge for luxury, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for midrange or Kinigi Guesthouse/Hotel Muhabura for budget.
Day 4: Kigali City tour and Departure
Have breakfast before checking out of the Lodge and transferring to Kigali City. You will have a tour of this City, one of the cleanest and most organized Cities in Africa. While here, you will get to visit some of the local markets for fresh organic fruits, craft shops for souvenirs, the Kigali memorial center and art galleries among others. You will later have lunch and be driven to the Airport for your return flight.
