The detailed itinerary of 12 Days Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Tour

Day 1: Airport pick up and drive to Jinja

After you have had an enjoyable breakfast, you will be picked up by our driver guide ready to embark on a road trip to the eastern part of Uganda to Jinja. En-route, make a stopover at Mabira forest for you to look out some of the incredible primates, birds and several floral species. As well, pay a visit to Ssezibwa falls which is approximately 32 kilometers off Kampala city center along Jinja highway. After, drive to Jinja and pay a visit to the source of the Nile. Dine and spend a night at Jinja Nile Resort (Luxury), Nile anchors palace/Sun Set Hotel (Midrange) or Cool Breeze Hotel (Basic).

Day 2: Horseback riding and white water rafting

After an early morning breakfast, embark on a horseback riding through the remote villages along the spectacular banks of the Nile. This will get you the best of Uganda’s rural setting. Return thereafter to have lunch and rest then you set off for white water rafting through the magical waters of the mighty source of the Nile. Day 3: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Start your day with early morning breakfast and later, drive to northwestern Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park. Drive through Kampala then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park via Luweero-Masindi route with a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary. At Ziwa sanctuary, take part in rhino tracking and then continue to the park. Arrive early enough to check in at Paraa Safari Lodge/Chobe Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Camp (Luxury), Sambiya River Lodge (Midrange) or Red Chili Campsite (Budget) for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Game drive and boat trip-Murchison Falls National Park

Wake early in the morning and have breakfast. After, head off to the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park for morning game drive that will reward you with magical encounters over diverse wildlife species such as the African bush elephants, leopards, giraffes, waterbucks, buffaloes, warthogs, Oribis, Uganda kobs, lions, birds among others. Return and have lunch and after, embark on afternoon launch cruise which takes you to the bottom of the falls. On a boat ride, catch a glimpse at hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and many savanna wildlife species. Day 5: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will check out from your lodge ready to embark on a road trip to Kibale National Park. En-route, make a stopover in Hoima for lunch and then proceed via Fort Portal. Arrive early enough to check in at Primate Lodge/Ndali Lodge (Luxury), Chimps Nest (Midrange) or Chimpanzee Guesthouse (Budget) for you to have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and guided nature walks

Begin the day with a hot cup of tea or coffee and after, gather at Kanyanchu visitor center for you to be briefed on the set safety measures that you have to observe while on chimpanzee tracking. Today, you will be put in a group of 6 visitors and allocated to 1 park ranger guide who will take you through this primate adventure. On chimp trek, you also have the opportunity to come across other primate species including the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons a mention but a few. This primate adventure may take you about 2 to 4 hours with an hour of face to face encounter and for you to explore their behaviors. After, walk back and have lunch then in the afternoon, head off to Bigodi wetland for guided nature walks. This equally will reward you with incredible views over diverse primate species like vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and many others. Day 7: Connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy your cup of tea or coffee and later, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park about 3 to 4 hours. Arrive early enough and have lunch. In the afternoon, you embark on a game drive for you to catch a glimpse at wildlife species such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, birds and many others. Dine and spend a night at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury), Hippo Hills Camp (Midrange) or Simba Safari Lodge/Bush Lodge (Budget).

Day 8: Game viewing and boat cruise

After an early morning breakfast, head off to Kasenyi track for early morning exciting game drive. This will reward you with amazing encounters at diverse wildlife species like the African bush elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, and many others. After, drive back to the lodge to have lunch and rest. In the afternoon, set off to Kazinga channel for a boat cruise which will reward you with excellent views over most aquatic life including crocodiles, hippos, water birds such as bee-eaters, raptors, falcons a mention but a few. Day 9: Drive to Bwindi National Park for gorilla trekking

You will have breakfast early in the morning and after, drive through Ishasha area for you to catch a glimpse at the tree climbing lions and many savanna wildlife species. Later, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Arrive early enough to check in at Chameleon Hill Lodge/Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury), Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp/Wagtail Eco Safari Camp (Budget) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, you will join other visitors at Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing on the set rules and regulations that you have to follow while on a trek to view mountain gorillas. Today, make sure that you are prepared with your packed lunch and bottled water. You will be put in a group of 8 visitors to track 1 habituated family and 1 park ranger guide will be assigned to you. This adventure is strenuous but very rewarding as it doesn’t only offer you a chance to spot out mountain gorillas but also other primates like L’Hoest monkeys, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and others. Have rest, dinner and overnight stay at Chameleon Hill Lodge/Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury), Silverback Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp/Wagtail Eco Safari Camp (Budget).

Day 11: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

Get up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. Later, connect to Lake Bunyonyi. En-route, get the best of breathtaking landscape that distinguishes this area from the rest. Arrive early enough and have lunch then set off for an afternoon boat ride to one of the 29 magical islands that are distributed within Lake Bunyonyi.
