The lodge is suspended high above the valley and it overlooks beautiful flora and fauna in the forest and makes birding watching and primate viewing possible.

 Silverback Lodge Amenities:

The lodge has a very unique restaurant with very creative menus that are well prepared by professional chefs who prepare both local and International dishes. There is a Summit bar which is well stocked in a very comfortable location, very perfect for partaking the day’s explorations of primate watching, gorilla trekking and bird watching.

There are also good gardens for relaxing and enjoying the magnificent landscape of the Bwindi forest after a long day’s hike, where you can prepare a barbecue under the night skies.

Accommodation at Silverback Lodge;

The lodge has twelve (12) rooms with very nice décor which are categorized as one (1) single room, four (4) double rooms and seven (7) twin rooms.

All these rooms are built and designed using local materials including vines, sisal rope and purple slate stone and each room has an en-suite bathroom with hot water showers and very comfortable chairs well positioned on the verandah offering good viewing for spectacular scenery which surrounds the lodge.

Tourism activities at the Silverback Lodge;

Gorilla Tracking

Silverback lodge is situated in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which is Uganda’s one of the most visited National parks for its outstanding activity- gorilla tracking. The park is a home of more than half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world.

During the undergrowth and thick creepers of the dense Bwindi rainforest, track the famous mountain gorillas.

The popular waterfall trail

The waterfalls in Bwindi impenetrable park offers an attractive forest features which includes a profusion of orchids, tree ferns and the colorful array of butterflies. This trail will lead you to three (3) delightful crystal clear waterfalls, which typifies your expectations of a tropical rain forest.

 Nature walks around the Silverback lodge and Mountain Bike Rides

Silverback lodge offers you four (4) fantastic hiking trails, which offers you an opportunity to see primates, butterflies and a number of bird species. Hiking usually starts at 9:00 am in the morning after a leisurely breakfast and at 2:15 Pm in the afternoon after your relaxed lunch.

Mountain bikes in the forest are available for renting with prior notice and you will have escorted rides around the forest and villages on well-maintained bikes.

Buhoma Village walk

Buhoma village walk in Bwindi Impenetrable National park is purely managed by the local community and it will take you up to three (3) hours. The walk introduces you to different interesting sites which include a visit of a typical homestead, visiting traditional healer and brewing of banana beer demonstrations.

You will also be offered a cultural performance in the evening, which is presented by women and orphan groups who live within the area.

Bird watching

Bird watching in the forest is very interesting and the Impenetrable forest holds over 346 species of birds which is about 90 percent of all the Albertine Rift valley endemics.

Birds you are most likely to see in the forest include; the African green broad bill, dwarf honey guide, Lagden’s bush shrike, Oberlander’s Ground-thrush, yellow eyed flycatchers, Chaplin’s fly catcher and Montane double-collared sunbird.

The Bwindi Batwa Trail

This hike leads you through the forest, past stunning vistas and the serenity of this ancient rain forest and along the way, you will watch demonstrations of how the Batwa used to live in the forest, and how they used medicinal plants, how they hunt and gather fruits.

Also find out about the delicate fare on offer in the forest, including wild honey, yams and mushrooms. You will enjoy coffee at the Batwa community’s own coffee shop.
