This trip starts from Rwanda’s Kigali City, then proceed to Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna Border posts. So instead of taking 9-10 hours driving from Kampala to Bwindi, you will instead start and end your trip from Rwanda yet the actual gorilla trek is within Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the four National Parks where the critically endangered Mountain gorillas can be tracked and so far, over 400 gorillas (about half of the World’s population of the Giant Apes) call this site home.

The others are found within the Virunga Massif comprising of Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park, Virunga National Park of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

You will be required to wake up very early, have a hefty breakfast and prepare (by wearing long sleeved shirt, long trouser, a hat, cotton socks and strong waterproof hiking boots and carry a walking stock, a camera, your gorilla permit, snacks/packed lunch, enough drinking water, a backpack and a rain jacket) before proceeding to the Park Headquarters for pre-tracking briefing on the guidelines (do’s and don’ts of the activity) and then begin the trek.
