Details of the 1 day Jinja tour
After you have had breakfast early in the morning at a hotel or area of residence in Kampala or Entebbe and at 6:30 am you will set off eastwards to Jinja. En-route, enjoy the magnificent view of the beautiful tea and sugarcane plantations. You will have the first stopover at Ssezibwa waterfalls-an exceptional cultural site for you to enjoy folktales, meet the traditional healer, spot out birds and get the best of its beautiful sceneries. The word Ssezibwa means ‘my path cannot be blocked’ and locals assert this the fact that the flow of the falls couldn’t be stopped despite many obstacles it encounters. A visit at Ssezibwa waterfalls gets you insight into the unique traditional beliefs of the Buganda Kingdom with opportunity for you to enjoy the breathtaking sceneries and landscape of the area.
The second stopover will be at Mabira Forest-one of a few natural rainforests that still exist in Uganda. Arrive at the Ecotourism center early enough and set off along one of the designated hiking trails within and around this lush rainforest. Hiking through Mabira Forest allows you to explore the unique plant species that are of medicinal importance, forest birds, colorful butterflies, primates including the red-tailed mangabeys to mention but a few.
After the Mabira Forest hike, you will be driven up to the source of the Nile at Jinja where you will have enjoyable lunch at Nile Safari Hotel or Sunset Hotel or any hotel of your preference and also get some rest. Later in the afternoon, you will take part in an exciting and rewarding boat ride along the historic River Nile to where its source begins from that also comes with the opportunity for you to spot out some waterbird species. This will last you about half an hour or two hours but this may depend on the time. You will be accompanied by a guide who will take you through your exploration at the source of the Nile. After your boat trip, you will get back to Kampala or Entebbe (spend a night at your preferred hotel-Protea Hotel/Sheraton Hotel/Acacia Lodge) and this will mark the end of your one day Jinja tour.
