1) Uganda’s Game Parks:

Lake Mburo National Park:

The park is very  special place; every part of it is alive with variety, interest and color. The park contains an extensive area of wetland. The park harbors several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. The bird population includes the rare Shoebill stork.

Its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a varied mosaic of habitats: forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wildlife. The park is only 370 square Kilometers and the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks. Its mosaic habitat: dry hillside, rocky outcrops, bushes, thickets, open and wooded savannahs, forests, lakes and swamps are home to a surprising diversity of plants and animals.

Queen Elizabeth National Park:

If it is the giant forest hog or Uganda Kob you’re looking for, then this park is the place for you.The park is  justifiably Uganda’s greatest standard tourist destination.

The park’s diverse ecologies, which include sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, glittering lagoons and abundant swamps, make it an ideal home for definitive large game, 10 primate which includes about 600 species of birds.

Bwindi National Park

This destination is renown for gorilla trekking which are endangered species and over 400  of which are surviving in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the Virunga mountains. 95% of their genes bear resemblance to those of humans. Genetically, mountain gorillas are some of the closest primates to human beings. The pursuit of these close cousins of ours is an activity which is sure to thrill.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

This is one of the few  places within Uganda  where you will track mountain  gorillas . You will enjoy tracking these endangered apes in this area, though the challenge is that , gorillas in this park sometimes move to Democratic Republic of Congo  making them not guaranteeing their visibility when there.

Bwindi Impenetrable forest

This park is perhaps the best place to track  mountain gorillas since almost half of the world’s population are found here with several habituated groups. It is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 350 species recorded; including many Albertine Rift endemics.

Apart from the endangered mountain gorillas, there are eleven other primates which are found in the forest including Chimpanzees, Olive baboons, black and white colobus and the L’ Hoest monkeys. Elephants are in the park though seldom seen and the Bush buck and several types of forest duikers can sometimes be spotted. The park has a very impressive birds and butterflies.

Kibale Forest National Park:

This park is well known for habituated Chimpanzees and it is the only park with largest community of habituated chimpanzees in Uganda. The park has approximately 12 species of primates  and  offers very interesting and unique accommodation facilities located within the park, providing good tourism services.

Kidepo National Park

Those interested in birding, Kidepo has it all for you. This is the park that answers the questions of birds to watch and makes up for the challenges it possesses in accessibility with its variety and fauna, especially the birds.

Murchison Falls National Park

Quiet an impressive park which is covered by mostly untamed Savannah, constituting the point at which the Nile River bursts out into a white rage all its way to the banks where the buffalos, hippos, crocodiles and water bucks take it easy for up close viewing.

Mt. Elgon National Park

The park is a home of the  fourth highest mountain in Africa and if you are an adventurous climber, this one the few places in Uganda to participate in hiking. Mount  Elgon is an extinct volcano with magnificent waterfalls, caves, gorges and hot springs.

Mt. Rwenzori national park

Rwenzori mountains also refereed to as “the mountain of the moons” boasts a tropical rain forest  and as you ascend further up, you perhaps will not miss the six meter heater of moss and its snow peak.

2) Eco-tourism sites

7)  Lake Bunyonyi

Ngamba is on Lake Victoria, less than an hour by boat from Entebbe and offers the opportunity to delight in a community of orphaned chimpanzees allowed a “new lease on life” after being rescued from poachers as in the case for most of these apes.

10)  Luwombo

Luwombo is a local dish and is usually served on occasion such as Kwanjula. This delicacy is a preserve of special guests from the groom’s side.
