5 Days Fishing on Lake Victoria – Best Sport Fishing Tour in Uganda

The 5 Days Fishing on Lake Victoria is unusual itinerary offering every enthusiastic angler on Uganda safari a chance to get a thrill of exploring Africa’s largest freshwater Lake. Over 600 fish species survive within Lake Victoria including the haplochromine cichlids.

Your fishing excursion will involve active participation as you challenge yourself in catching one of the heaviest Nile Perch on Lake Victoria or other fish species.

The fishing experience will be enjoyed on Lake Victoria and the nearby lush Ssese Islands -the magical natural islands comprising of 80 islands. Most of Lake Victoria’s Ssese Islands are not inhabited except some local fishermen.

The experience will include use of lures and largely, it is a ‘catch and release’ method. As per the past fishing excursions, Nile Perch of varying weights of 5-25kg have ever been caught from Lake Victoria, and there are higher chances for you to catch the heaviest one compared to the previous anglers.

Detailed Itinerary – 5 Days Fishing on Lake Victoria:

Day 1: Pick up at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe city.

On arrival at EBB, you will be picked up and transferred to your pre-booked accommodation for relaxation and overnight stay. It will be on this day when you will also be briefed about this exciting fishing trip in Uganda.

Day 2: Embark on your full day fishing excursion on Lake Victoria.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your respective hotels and after, you will embark on a full day fishing excursion. Leave the hotel when equipped with the fishing gear and you will get to your fishing spot using a boat. The departure time will be around 9:00am/10:00am.

A full day fishing excursion takes about 8 hours and if you opt for half day, you will have 4 hours. This excursion will be enjoyed around one of the local inlets and islands accessible within 30-45 minutes using a boat from Entebbe.

The fishing spot will be chosen considering the weather pattern and how the fish will be biting. Your day also includes a picnic lunch and you will get back for dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Ssese Islands.

Have a delicious cup of tea/coffee and after, catch up with a ferry for you to be transferred to the Ssese Islands. Head to Bukakata landing site and en-route, have a stopover at the Equator for you to take pictures.

Continue up to Bukakata Landing Site and then board a ferry connecting to Luuku site. Luuku lies on Ssese Islands and you will have a relaxed stay in one of the comfortable hotels/resorts.

4: Full day fishing tour at Ssese Island.

After breakfast, you will set off for your unforgettable fishing excursion on Lake Victoria. You will return from the fishing adventure and relax at the resort and in the afternoon, you will be led through the fishing villages or enjoy a guided nature walk via the lush forest on Ssese Islands. Get back to the resort for a leisurely dinner and a night stay.

Day 5: Departure.

At leisure, enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and after, leave Ssese Islands. Take the morning boat for you to get back and meet the driver guide who will transfer you to the airport for departure. If time allows, you may pay a visit to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre before you transfer to the airport.
